Don’t Say “Yes” to a Phone Scam

Beware of the latest phone scam…it can be as simple as you saying “yes.”  According to a story on clark.com, (see full story here) in the newest phone scam thieves are attempting you to answer “yes” to a simple question.

For instance, “Can you hear me now?” or  “Are you the lady/gentleman of the house?” But beware, your answer isn’t just a simple “yes,” it can lead to unauthorized charges on your phone. Scammers will record your answer and use that to validate the charges. Additionally, if they have already stolen additional information, such as your credit or debit card, they can use the recorded answer to prove your consent.

So, beware of simple yes or no questions…when in doubt, say nothing and hang up.
